Ballet New England proudly celebrated its silver anniversary in 2005 operating as a pre-professional fine art school of dance and professional ballet company.  A non-profit organization, BNE is dedicated to producing the highest standard in excellence in professional dance performance, educating dancers of all ages and levels, and providing outreach programming throughout the New England area.

Our professional company performs an eclectic repertoire of classical, 20th century and contemporary choreography.  The company has performed throughout New England at many venues including The Music Hall, Portsmouth, Prescott Park, Portsmouth, the Capital Center, Concord, and the Hines Convention Center, Boston.  Productions have included, Coppelia, Romeo and Juliet, Scarlet Letter, Alice In Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood Meets Mother Goose and Friends, and our annual signature production, An 1836 Portsmouth Nutcracker.

The official school of Ballet New England is the Center for Dance Education.  Here, the philosophy is one that emphasizes training in dance as a performing art and offers a distinctive curriculum that reflects today’s standards in the dance world.

Ballet New England’s outreach programs continue to bring the experience of dance to underserved populations in the community through workshops, school performances, lecture-demonstrations, and scholarships to the Center for Dance Education. Partnerships and collaborations have been initiated with Odyssey House, New Heights, North Hampton School, Safe Place, Portsmouth Recreation Department and other community organizations to help introduce the art of dance to many children in the Seacoast area.  Several outreach performances are presented each year at Portsmouth’s Children’s Day and the annual Market Square Day.
